How Septic Systems Work

Septic Tank Treatments for Maintaining and Restoring a Septic Tank or Treatment Unit

Let’s Start with Septic Tank Bacteria

When traditional septic tanks and modern septic treatment plants are not well maintained, the healthy aerobic bacteria can become anaerobic, unbalanced, weaken and become dormant or die. At this point problems start to show – build-ups of excessive sludge, foul smells, blocked drains, even overflows occur, that require pumping-out, which may be just a short-term solution.

A good septic system contains billions of healthy bacteria (microbes) that break down (Munch) the organic solids (Muck) discharged from your home to your septic tank.

For most systems that have had little other than the need for pump-outs, Muck Munchers is the ideal choice and comes with a Free Bio-Booster start-up pack to activate and invigorate the tank.

Where there have been problems with thick surface crust, sludge build-up and poor soakaway drainage, or simply a stagnant or inactive septic tank, consideration should be given to an initial treatment of Triple Action Bog Busters followed by a regular 12 x monthly treatment programme of Muck Munchers.

Muck Munchers septic tank treatments work hard to support your septic system. Flushing materials, other than toilet paper, into your septic tank is not compatible with stimulating your septic tank system. Doing so will significantly reduce the performance of the bacteria that naturally digest and treat your septic waste.

Following just a few septic tank maintenance guidelines to encourage good bacteria in the septic tank will save you large sums of money, avoid regular costly pump-outs and potentially save on very expensive soakaway repairs or replacement.

3 Tell Tail Signs That You Have Problems With Your Septic Tank

Septic tank systems can become problematic if they are not cared for and if the wrong products
and chemicals are flushed down your toilets and drains.

1

Overflowing Septic Tanks, Blocked Drains & Slow Draining Toilets

Water levels are raised and have nowhere to go.

Cause: A build-up of effluent and solids in your tank due to poor waste digestion and low levels of aerobic bacterial activity.

Solution: Muck Munchers – the market-leading biological septic tank treatment

2

Foul-smelling Odours from Your Tank or Drains

Septic odours don’t always indicate that you need to have a pump-out.

Cause: When natural enzyme-producing aerobic bacteria become anaerobic or are destroyed by detergents, antibiotics, chlorine bleaches and other contaminants leading to foul smells.

Solution: Muck Munchers and Oxy-Tonic Biomass Oxygenator – stimulates activity and banishes septic tank odours

3

Boggy Soil & Pools of Water Near Your Septic Tank

When effluent flows into your soakaway anaerobic bacteria may create black slime significantly reducing drainage

Cause: Low levels of digestion in the septic tank resulting in undigested waste entering the septic system soakaway

Solution: Triple Action Bog Busters – an intensive treatment for problem septic systems and soakaways

Sorted My Shower Waste and My Saniflo

Every time we flushed the Saniflo, waste came up in the shower in my daughter’s bathroom. Following your advice, I put a Muck Munchers sachet in the Saniflo and left it overnight, and used Digesta in the shower and wash basin each day. In a few days all was flowing freely. The plumber had quoted £600 + VAT for a new Saniflo, so it was £43 well spent with you.

Saved a Lot of Money on Pump-Outs

I have been using Muck Munchers for nearly three or four years now and have not had to have my septic tank pumped out in all that time. This has been a great money saver as previous to using Muck Munchers the tank had to be pumped out annually. I must have saved more than £300 by using Muck Munchers in my septic tank. Thank you, Muck Munchers!

A Healthy and Odour-Free Septic Tank

I used to have a single stinky drain and despite every effort to check and understand why every so often an unpleasant smell would waft around in the breeze. Then I heard about the Munchers family and what good work they do so I gave them an opportunity to prove themselves and boy, did they ever! In a matter of two weeks, the smell disappeared and has never returned since. On a calm and quiet day, if you put your ear to the tank cover you can hear the sounds of a party. They truly are happy in their work and continue to be so to this day.
